The work is devoted to investigation of the effect of rhenium compounds with alkyl ligands on tumor growth, state of red blood cells and parameters of oxidative stress in the model of tumor growth after introduction of rhenium compounds separately, and together with cisplatin. It was shown that compounds of different configurations had a similar antitumor effect. However, in comparison with trans-isomers, cis-dicarboxylates of dirhenium(III) were characterized by reduction of the red blood system, a stronger antioxidant activity and degree of activation of erythrocyte superoxide dismutase. For the first time, the dependence between the structure of dicarboxylates of dirhenium(III) and their ability to activate erythrocyte superoxide dismutase in the model of tumor growth has been demonstrated. In vitro studies have shown that rhenium compounds of cis- and trans-configurations interacted with serum albumins and erythrocyte superoxide dismutase inducing changes in the protein secondary structures. It was found that in contrast to the trans-dicarboxylate, the cis-dicarboxylate possesses its own SOD-like activity. The attempt was made to explain the differences in the mechanisms of antioxidant activities of cis- and trans-dicarboxylates of dirhenium. The 20 scientific papers were published based on this research, including dissertation and six papers published in leading professional journals in Ukraine and abroad.
