А seriesoftheworkis dedicated to actual problem of metal physics, namely to the investigations of hydrogen induced form-change laws in palladium.

For the realization of the assigned task a new working chamber was constructed and hydrogen-vacuum device was modernized. There was worked out the method of conducting experiments in order to receive the time dependent of bending deflection of specimen during its one-side saturation with hydrogen.

As a result of experiments there was confirmed that the form-change plate develops in two stages: on the first stage the plate reaches very quickly the maximum bend, while on the second stage, significantly longer stage, the plate is straightened to its original condition, or there is a residual steady-state bend.

Experimentally there is established that the increase in hydrogen pressure leads to a linear, reversible and strong bending of the plate, which is ~3 times larger than the mechanical load. The mechanism of palladium plate bending under mechanical loading is fundamentally different from that in hydrogen loading.

For the first time experimentally determined that the temperature increase at constant pressure of hydrogen leads to the maximum bending of the plate changes by extreme law.

Firstly investigated influence of the speed of gaseous hydrogen feed till given pressure under isothermal conditions on the value of maximum bending and the time of its achievement.

Established experimental regularities are determined by two fundamental properties of Pd–H system: diffusion coefficient and equilibrium solubility of hydrogen in palladium as well as the external and internal conditions of the diffusion transport of hydrogen.
