The purpose of the work is to develop the principles and methods of spatial ecology as a scientific basis for the protection of biological and landscape diversity, of the restoration of soil fertility under conditions of intensive agricultural production and landreclamation.
For the first time the spatial patterns of living organisms were established on reclaimed technozems; the algorithm describing the spatial variability of point objects and testing hypotheses on the nature of causal relationships that generate it were developed; a system of ecogeographical predictors of living organisms’ ecological niche at a landscape level was created; the correlation between the theory of ecological niche and the theory of neutrality is shown to explain the organization of communities; the technique of estimating of the soil mesofauna spatial variability was developed; bioindicators of quality and negative properties of agrozems weresubstantiated.
Methodological approaches for determination and estimation of population spatial variation at a level of biogeocoenosis were scientifically grounded; the system of ecogeographic indicators was substantiated on the basis of the Earth remote sensing data as the ecological niche markers at a landscape level; the procedure for assessing the position of species in the ecological space was developed; the conception of ecomorphs of organisms as structural components of environmental hyperspace was substantiated; principles and methods of the spatial variability estimation of organisms in urboecosystems were developed; the importance of the ecomorph conception for the spatial structure of biogeocoenosis was revealed; species-indicators of the agro-land quality were substantiated; the approaches to the estimation of the pedobionts ecological space on the basis of phytoindication of ecological regimes were developed.
National and world analogues of such a cycle of scientific works are absent. The authors published 16 monographs and 72 articles. 17 PhD and 4 habilitated Doctoral dissertations were defended. The total number of references to authors' publications (according to SCOPUS, Web of Science and Google Scholar) is 4080. The h-index of authors is from 5 to 16.
