On the basis of theoretical studies and experiments, the authors determined priorities in heterotic models for creating FAO 180-500 maize hybrids.
The scientific basis for the use of matroclinal haploidy in selection has been created, which reduces the duration of homozygosis period of a maize genotype to 3 years and reduces the cycle of creating commercial hybrids to 7 years.
The basic conceptual foundations of an innovative technical and technological system for collecting, refining and storing grain harvest have been formed as a necessary component of the seed production process of maize hybrids and their market production.
A complex innovative system of selection providing for the maize grain production has been proposed, which includes the scientific principles of modelling, synthesis, testing and selection of high-yielding hybrids for all soil-climatic zones of Ukraine.
The formation of four variety changes of maize hybrids over the past 28 years has been implemented. During this period, 34 early-maturing hybrids were registered (FAO 150-240), the annual yield increase of which was 0.1 t / ha.
New maize hybrids DN Harant, DB Hawtin and DN Adzhamka, etc., exceed the best foreign samples in yield by more than 0.5 t / ha, while the cost of grain production is lower by 150 UAH / t and profitability level is higher by 25% than the well-known hybrids-standards.
288 maize hybrids were introduced into production, which provided the opportunity for further development of the production base of the agricultural sector of the country. The area of new hybrids in recent years is more than 1 million hectares annually, but the net profit from their introduction exceeds 1 billion UAH.
