The purpose of the scientific work is the development of theoretical and methodological foundations and practical tools for the formation and implementation of a development strategy for interregional economic cooperation in the context of European integration.
The research clarifies the substantive content of the essence of interregional cooperation in the context of European integration as a form of multilateral cooperation between regions, summarizes the world experience of interregional economic cooperation in the context of forming a strategy for its development. The methodological approach to assessing the development of interregional cooperation has been improved on the basis of grouping of regions according to the results of the assessment of components of interregional interaction and based on the analysis of the problems of interregional economic cooperation. An approach has been formulated to assess the effectiveness of inter-regional economic cooperation in dynamics, as a prerequisite for the formation of a strategy for its development, by determining complementary coefficients that reflect the activity of internal and external cooperation of partner regions. A concept for the development of interregional cooperation in the context of European integration has been developed, which is a diverse combination of theoretical, methodological, regulatory, analytical and practical blocks. The choice of the dominant development strategy of interregional economic cooperation in the context of European integration and the development vectors of interregional economic cooperation based on the concept of SMART-specialization has been substantiated, which creates the prerequisites for the development of interregional relations due to the synergistic effect of cooperation between authorities, science and entrepreneurship. A procedure has been developed for the formation and implementation of a development strategy for interregional economic cooperation. The development scenarios of interregional economic cooperation, the risks of implementing the development strategy of interregional economic cooperation, and ways to neutralize them have been identified. A discursive frame for monitoring the implementation of the development strategy of interregional economic cooperation in the context of European integration has been formed.
