The objective is a scientific and methodological justification of ecological and economic imperatives and priorities of organic agriculture development in Ukraine.

The authors on the basis of theoretical research and experiments have developed ecological and economic requirements concerning organic agriculture management, which represent a system of prohibitions and permissions regarding agricultural production technologies. The authors have suggested a methodical approach to evaluating the potential of organic agriculture development through the application of indices that characterize its value in industrial and consumer perspective and allow one to allocate territories based on their potential role in this segment of the economy.

The authors have formed basic conceptual principles on production development of organic agricultural products, which are based on the economic theory of the welfare by restrictive criteria on environmental safety and environmental protection.

The authors have suggested a model of the production structure optimization of organic agricultural products, taking into account the environmental component, which involves interconnection between production parameters and changes in the processes of natural resource reproduction. The Project of Strategy of Organic Agriculture Development by 2020 has been designed.

The economic effect of the implementation is to improve the production efficiency of organic products; ensure interconnection between production parameters and changes in the processes of natural resource reproduction aimed at improving the quality of soil and maximizing profits; avoid public monopolies in the accreditation of certification bodies in the field of organic farming.
