The following results are presented in the series of papers «Development of the methodology for experimental and computational studies of deformation and fracture of structural materials under different loading conditions»:
- The methodology for determining the energy characteristics of construction materials under impact bending in a wide temperature range was developed, which allowed the instrumentation of the MK-30 pendulum impact tester using a multichannel high-speed strain and force recording system and the creation of a unique experimental complex that has no analogues in Ukraine. As a result, new experimental data were obtained on the energy characteristics of fracture and their anisotropy during impact bending of high-strength defence materials Armox 500T and Hardox 450 in the temperature range of -196...300˚C.
- A methodology for determining the mechanical and energy characteristics of high-strength and armoured steels in a wide range of strain rates was developed, on the basis of which the instrumented vertical impact tester VK-350 was modernised and a unique experimental complex was created that has no analogues in Ukraine. Its use made it possible to conduct experimental studies under impact shear, compression and dynamic pushing with the possibility of high-speed (up to 200 thousand fps) video recording and to obtain new experimental data on deformation and fracture of thin-sheet specimens made of Armox 500T high-strength steel under static and dynamic pushing.
3. A test procedure for determining the crack resistance characteristics based on the results of tests of miniature compact specimens has been developed. The calculation methods for estimating the fracture toughness based on the use of different types of compact specimens have been developed. Comparative experimental and numerical studies of standard and miniature compact specimens for the material of the 1st circuit of NPPs of 1 15Kh2NMFA steel were carried out.
The methods, experimental equipment, and research results developed in the series of papers were used in the implementation of projects of the G.S. Pisarenko Institute of Strength Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, for the Yuzhnoye State Design Office, ANTONOV JSC, Kromtel LLC, New Ceramic Technologies LLC, PJSC NPO Praktika, of the National University of Defence of Ukraine, and others, as evidenced by the relevant certificates.
