Evaluation and obtaining new forms of miscanthus tolerant to abiotic stress factors in culture in vitro

The aim is to develop a method for obtaining  miscanthus plants tolerant to abiotic stress factors (salinity and drought) on selective mediumin culture in vitro, which will evaluate and create a new source material for breeding.

The authors based on theoretical studies and experiments were determined that the method of evaluation and obtaining new forms of miscanthus, tolerant to abiotic stress factors in culturein vitro, allows to evaluate and get tolerant to abiotic stress factors (salinity and drought) genotypes miscanthus with the use of selective medium. Scale assessment miscanthus tolerance to abiotic stress factors in vitro using selective mediumwas developed, which is 5 degrees tolerance. Miscanthus genotypes that are tolerant to abiotic environmental factors (salinity and drought) and suitable for cultivation on marginal land were obtained.

There was created scientific basis of evaluation and possible new forms of miscanthus, tolerant to abiotic stress factors in culturein vitro.

There was formed basic conceptual basis of biotechnological methods that allowsto create and evaluate productive miscanthus genotypes tolerant to abiotic stress factors environment suitable for cultivation on marginal land.

There was proposed miscanthus planting material, tolerant to abiotic stress factors environment, and guidelines from the “Evaluation and obtaining new forms of miscanthus tolerant to abiotic stress factors in culture in vitro” (Royik MV,Bech NS, Kotsar MO).

The economic effect of the introduction: calculations showed that miscanthus creating clones tolerant to abiotic stress factors (salinity and drought), can gettingfor one year research and with further cloning hundred thousand high-quality plant material next year at the minimum cost of labor and reagents
