Presented by the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute".

Aim of this research is development and implementation of principles, methods and technologies of complex assessment and improvement of functional safety of critical information and control systems.

Scientific novelty of obtained results is the following:

1. Principles and methods of complex assessment of I&CS functional safety that consider complicated hierarchical structure and allow to perform safety assessment of system components on different stages of lifecycle are proposed.

2. Methods of critical I&CS functional safety ensuring that consider features of failures of different components and their negative interaction are developed.

3. Information technologies of critical I&CS functional safety assessment and ensuring are developed.

Results of research of this work are implemented in the following companies: Research and production corporation “Radiy”, Westron Ltd, Engineering Design Bureau “Polisvit” of State Scientific Production Enterprise “Komunar Corporation”, Khartep Ltd, and allowed to reduce risks of common cause failures of critical FPGA-based I&CS components in1.2 – 1.5 times, reduce risks of vulnerability attacks on FPGA-based I&CS in2 – 2.4 times, reduce risks of critical I&CS failures due to implementation of redistribution of channel redundancy between normal operation and safety/emergency subsystems, provide 100% integrity of requirement assessment for I&CS human-machine interfaces.

A number of technical and economical factors that are achieved by implementation of this scientific work results comply with best domestic analogues and are positioned on the same level as world progress.

Scientific results of the work are presented in 2 books, 57 papers (including 11 that are included in scientometric databases), 68 publications in conference proceedings and abstracts of reports. The novelty and the competitiveness of technical solutions is protected by 2 patents. Work results  are implemented in 4 textbooks.
