The aim of the work is to establish the species-specific nature of the accumulation of heavy metals and the physiological stability of treesof the culturephytocenosis of industrial city.

In scientific work the physiological and biochemical substantiation of representations about adaptive possibilities of treesto combined action of heavy metals is presented, as well as species-specific manifestations of their stress resistance, which is determined by qualitative and quantitative changes in the components of the surface layer of leaf cuticles, under conditions of intensive transformation and urbanization of the environment. For the first time, the transformational changes of various functional groups of substances of leaves cuticle layer (terpenoids, sterols, etc.) are shown, which significantly affect the hydrophobicity and permeability of the cuticle, ensuring the resistance of treesin conditions of heavy metals ions excessive in the environment. For the first time proved the role of different classes of terpenoids including regrouped eudesmanic and kadinаnic sesquiterpenoids and phytanic diterpenoids – the so-called «protective factors» in the formation of physiological adaptation of trees under the influence of metal industrial emissions. For the first time in the surface layer of cuticlesTiliacordataleaves, was detected the presence of phytanic diterpenoids, and in Sorbus aucuparia – sorbic and para-sorbic acids, which were previously found in the fruits of the specie. The author proved the presence of causation between the accumulative ability of plants at different stages of leaves morphogenesis, the development of stress reactions, responses and level of damagevegetative organs. The said allowed to develop plants assortment for ecologically substantiated improvement of green plantations of industrial cities in steppe zone of Ukraine and to implement research results at PJSC «Kryvorizhsky Surikovy Plant»(Kryvyi Rih). The author's studies are used in the educational process of leading universities of Ukraine, in the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration and the Ecology Department of the executive committee of the Kryvyi Rih City Council in developing activities of urban and regional integrated programs of environmental safety, namely in improving the regional system of biomonitoring the environment and optimizing landscaping sanitary-protective zones of enterprises. The advantage of the work is an integrated approach to the study of the fundamentals of plants stress reactions, the physiological stability formation and determination of adaptation reactions at the level of lipids and secondary metabolites of treesleaves cuticle under conditions of heavy metals contamination.
