Work number - M 47 AWARDED

Represented by the Institute of Thermoelectricity of the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Author: KobylianskyiR.R.

The purpose of the work is to develop theoretical foundations, physical models and computer methods of simulation of thermal and electrical processes in "thermoelectric converter - human body" system for designing and creating on their basis modern thermoelectric medical equipment.

A generalized physical model of biological tissue has been developed, on the surface of which a thermoelectric converter is placed, with regard to the thermophysical properties of biological tissue, blood circulation and metabolic processes.

Computer methods for simulation of thermal and electrical processes in the "thermoelectric converter - human body" system have been developed, which made it possible to determine the laws of thermal interaction between thermoelectric converters and the biological tissue of human body. With the help of object-oriented computer simulation, the patterns of temperature and heat flow distribution of the human body are determined.

On the basis of the conducted basic theoretical research, modern thermoelectric medical equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes was developed and created, as well as its medical tests were performed.

The practical significance of the results is the creation of thermoelectric medical equipment on the basis of the conducted basic research which outperforms the known world analogues and increases the competitiveness of domestic products. The introduction of such thermoelectric medical equipment will provide physicians with a simple and cheap method of diagnostics in the early stages of the inflammatory processes of the human body and oncological diseases, as well as improve the quality and effectiveness of treatment of various diseases.

Medical tests of the developed thermoelectric devices were carried out at the State Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the NAMS of Ukraine, Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the NAMS of Ukraine, State Institution “The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine” and Higher State Educational Institution “Bukovinian State Medical University ". The test results indicate a high potential for the use of such devices in medical practice, which is confirmed by the relevant acts. In the future, it is planned to set up thermoelectric medical equipment for production at ALTEK-M Ltd.
