A series of works has been submitted by the faculty of chemistry of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The cycle of scientific works is consists from _4_ scientific articles, _1_ Patent of Ukraine and _13_ abstracts.

The series of works is devoted to the synthesis of 1Н-isothiochromen-4(3Н)-one 2,2-dioxide, its chemical properties investigation and the determination of structures of new compounds.

It has been developed and patented a preparativemethod of synthesis of 1H-isothiochromen-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide based on o-chlorometylbenzonitrile with a quantitativeyield.

It has been established a fact that the carbonyl group of isothiochroman-4-one 2,2-dioxide reacts with N- and C-nucleophiles (hydroxylamine, hydrazine, phenylhydrazine, pyrrolidine, malononitrile).

Recovery of the carbonyl group leads to the formation of secondary alcohol.

Electrophilic agents (formylation, bromination, nitrosation, azo coupling, nitration attack the 3rd position of isothiochromanone cycle, with a formation of functional derivatives, that can be used in a purposeful synthesis of condensed heterocycles and compounds which potentially may possess biological activity.

Under conditions of Vilsmeier-Haack reaction electrophilic attack goes through 1st and 3rd position of the isothiochromanone system.

It was found and explained general trends in chemical behavior of the 3-[(dimethylamino)methylene]-1H-isothiochromen-4(3H)-one-2,2-dioxide with respect to following bifunctional nucleophilic agents: hydrazine, aminoazaheterocycles, amidines.

Reactivity of α-ketomethylene fragments of 1H-isothiochromen-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide and dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3(4H)-one 1,1-dioxide was compared. Developed the conditions of synthesis of dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3(4H)-one 1,1-dioxide.

The X-ray diffraction studies were done compounds representative almost all classes of synthesized compounds which fully confirm reliability of the results obtained.
