New domestic strains producing butanol Clostridium sp. IMB B-7570, Clostridium acetobutylicum IMB B-7407 (16S RNA gene sequence entered into the international “GenBank” database, registration number KU 682 660) have been identified and butanol technology from plant materials has been developed. It is shown that new strains, in comparison with existing producers today, are able to assimilate renewable lignocellulosic raw materials with the formation of butanol.

Using metabolic engineering approaches, a strain of methylotrophic yeast Ogataea polymorpha was obtained with significantly increased production of ethanol. Overexpression of DAS1 and TAL2 genes in the genome of recombinant strain O. polymorpha led to increased efficiency of xylose fermentation by 25%. Strains with overexpression of genes encoding a modified Hxt1 transporter of O. polymorpha and heterologous Hxt7 and Gal2 transporters of S. cerevisiae were obtained. Obtained strains are characterized by increase in ethanol production during co-fermentation of glucose and xylose by 34% compared with the parental strain.

A new approach to process of methanol synthesis by the synthesis-gas conversion under the conditions of mechanochemical activation of the copper-zinc alumina catalyst is proposed. The effect of mechanical loading on the state and reactivity of the copper-zinc-alumina catalyst for methanol synthesis was investigated.

As the results of the research are also fundamental, they can be used in the educational process in the preparation of biotechnology specialists from the “National University of Food Technology” and the “National University of Life and Environmental Sciences” in the cycles of lectures on “Biotechnology”.
